The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often runs out of battery power before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, because it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum using different colors so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.

The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually should you need to. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to make it difficult for other robots I've tested.
